well with influences and sheer popularity from the Bruce Lee days with Enter the dragon, The way of the dragon, Fist of Fury and the game of death, the inspiration and fanbase of Bruce lee was put forward in Hollwodd to create movies that will give Hollywood studios the same kind of response and boy has it payed off.Look at "The Matrix, Charlies angels, Kill Bill, streetfighter, mortal kombat"
all have become box office hits with.
Therfore popular genre of martial arts, has expanded so raipdly to all audiences that evebn movies are aimed for children, and its not only just movies, its also games which i have already shown you.
sooo... Do you think that the popular genre of the past has caught up the modern audiences so well that we will get so used to action and sensational fight sequences or is there something in the future that will overpower this genre?

Enter the Dragon - Review

Review: I think I can safely say this film would be nothing without Bruce Lee. Lee's charisma was probably strong enough to carry just about any film. This was Lee's first American production after working on three previous films in Hong Kong. While not as well received in Asia as his earlier works, Lee's Enter the Dragon was certainly a success internationally. In fact Lee's untimely death just prior to the film's release fueled the Bruce Lee craze even further.
The film is highlighted by a series of battles which shine when Lee is on screen but dim when others try to match him. John Saxon, a student of Lee and Jim Kelly are examples of why martial arts in American film is mostly forgettable. Their performance is wooden and uneasy next to Bruce. Several Hong Kong stars of greater skill and notoriety do appear. Hong Kong legend, Angela Mao gets her kicks in as Lee's sister who attempts to fend off a motley gang out to do her wrong. Its a terrible shame that two future kung fu superstars in the film appear only briefly. Sammo Hung is featured as the sparring partner who gets floored by Bruce at the Shaolin monastery before the starting credits. One the best scenes sees Bruce, having infiltrated Mr. Han's underground operations, wade through a small army of hapless evildoers. A young Jackie Chan can be seen grabbing Bruce from behind before he receives a death blow.
The story as mentioned before is simple and tries to capitalize on the popularity of the James Bond franchise by casting Shih Kien as the maniacal villain, Mr. Han. Mr. Han has many qualities which suit his profession such as the absence of a left hand which is useful for attaching various slashing and blunt instruments. Mr. Han also has the requisite white fluffy cat, hidden elevators and the vanity to install a hall of mirrors, featured in the final battle sequence.
The DVD picture is clean and the sound is good, both of which were digitally re-mastered for this edition. If you can afford it and/or you label yourself a Bruce Lee fanatic, pick up the Limited Special Edition which features documentaries, commentaries, and accompanying collectible items.
Compared to later Hong Kong films featuring Jackie Chan or choreographed by Yuen Wo Ping, Enter the Dragon appears dated. Nevertheless, it remains a remarkable film for the intensity of Lee's performance and his lightning-quick martial arts skill.
given 4/5

The asian influence from the Orient to Hollywood via american actors..

Bruce Lee's "Way of the Dragon" is one of many re-issue titles for Lee's "Return of the Dragon". Filmed in Rome and Hong Kong, this adventure flick finds Lee battling Chuck Norris, in one of the latter's few unsympathetic roles. The climax pits Lee against Norris in the middle of the Roman Coliseum! It may not look as stylish as some Jackie Chan or Jet Li fights but that is only the surface. Deep down this fighting sequence uses all the wisdom and martial arts knowledge that made Bruce Lee a legend. It was the first time that Bruce Lee as writer, producer and director had the creative freedom to do whatever he wished. The result is a final gladiatorial duel with 7 times world karate champion, Chuck Norris in the Coliseum. Two worlds collide in this fight: Chuck’s modern karate style fighting and Jeet Kune Do. If there were a martial arts film museum, this fight would be in it. A fighter can learn more about every aspect of fighting by studying this fight than by studying hundreds of real fights. In this movie you can see a combination of all Jeet Kune Do theories: timing, traping, rhythm, distance control, the element of surprise etc. Also in this scene there are no wires or acrobatics. This is pure martial arts wisdom in action. Need I say more?
sooo after this, the early natural fighting sequences frrom the time of Bruce Lee compared to present day with Jet Li and Jackie Chan. stunts and moves as well as cords and blue screens a difference can be seen very clearly...
Had a Lil Trip but i'm back!

After some help frrom relatives in Bristol were i was for a few dayz n there interent not working.
But after coming home today
age before money...
"Jackie was a better stuntman and comedian but Bruce was a true martial arts master. Lee used filmmaking to prove and to demonstrate his fighting theories while Jackie exaggerates often by adding wild stunts and a lot of wire work. If you watch Jackie fight, you will be entertained but when you watch Bruce, you might learn something.
Jackie appeared in Bruce Lee's breakthrough classic Enter the Dragon, as one of the numerous people Bruce fights off. Although only on the screen briefly, Jackie's face can clearly be seen.
As Jackie said himself after his success, Bruce Lee could not be replaced".

The American invasion!!!!

The most famous battle scene of martal arts in the collusium of Rome, in 1972 saw legendary Chinese Bruce Lee and american Chuck Norris, battle it out in "THE WAY OF THE DRAGON"
where there after, from the early 70's saw martial arts and "wuxia.
This genre is no longer limited to Asian films - there are many action movies starring western martial artists such as Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal. The genre of martial arts as said before has influcened many directors and martial artsenthusiasted.
Zhi-Gong Chen became the first martial arts film star at age 16 in 1925, she had begun training at age 8. and from there one, martial arts being the popular genre that it is has spurred many people to become actors and take up training, such as Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, Jackie Chan, Chow yun fat.Women in martial arts are just as accepted in chinese and japanese movies as in hollywood,

Mr White Monday Lesson.
Reserach, How can i carry it out?
Causal Research
When most people think of scientific experimentation, research on cause and effect is most often brought to mind. Experiments on causal relationships investigate the effect of one or more variables on one or more outcome variables. This type of research also determines if one variable causes another variable to occur or change. An example of this type of research would be altering the amount of a treatment and measuring the effect on study participants.
2. Descriptive Research
Descriptive research seeks to depict what already exists in a group or population. An example of this type of research would be an opinion poll to determine which Presidential candidate people plan to vote for in the next election. Descriptive studies do not seek to measure the effect of a variable; they seek only to describe.
3. Relational Research
A study that investigates the connection between two or more variables is considered relational research. The variables that are compared are generally already present in the group or population. For example, a study that looked at the proportion of males and females that would purchase either a classical CD or a jazz CD would be studying the relationship between gender and music preference.

A sanitised hollywood...
after minimal research and clue on how to explore m idea, i came to the conclusion that popular movie classics such as "Enter the dragon" with the late Bruce Lee have come a long way and mivie directors such as scary Tarantino, which has made hollywood history with violent movies such as "Kill Bill" have been heavily influenced. but the question is, has hollywood cleaned up the awesome guts, gore, shock and horror that we got in Bruce Lee's day.
The crushing of bones, the spillage of blood and no use of CGI make the older movies even more special. yet now, with a little help from Mr White, who said "sanitised"
Do you the audience the consumer think that the remakes and influened movies of the asian invasion lack the shock factor.?

Asian movie influence on Hollywood

Hong Kong films have been more influential on Hollywood films than any other international influence since the 1960's French New Wave. This influence is not new, but is accumulating to the point where a wider segment of the Hollywood movie industry and the movie-going public is growing to appreciate it - writes Patrick Gorman, Partner with Pierce, Gorman LLP.
In recent decades, famous Hollywood directors, such as Quentin Tarantino and Oliver Stone, have credited the influence of Hong Kong film styles on their works. John Woo has relocated his career to Hollywood to become one of its biggest directors. In fact, not only has John Woo's style influenced others, but his current films are Hollywood.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: one example.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is really only an example of one Chinese/Hong Kong film that has influenced Hollywood business and creative style as well as having achieved commercial success. The artists who have worked on CTHD are now established in the Hollywood system. Take Yuen Wo Ping in The Matrix for example, and Zhang Zhi Yi in Rush Hour II (although she is not a Hong Kong actress).
More and more Hong Kong films are being picked up for distribution in the US, such as Fulltime Killer, which is to be released theatrically in the US later this year. More Hong Kong talent seems to be appearing on American screens, and not just John Woo and Jackie Chan. Hong Kong companies like Emperor Multimedia Group and Media Asia were very active at the Cannes Film Market this year making international relationships and selling their product for distribution in the US and elsewhere around the world.
Three major Chinese films are slated for release in North America in the next few months. They are Jackie Chan's Highbinders, The Touch, starring Michelle Yeoh, and Hero, directed by Zhang Yimou. These movies are not angling for the usual art-house cinema slots or festival acclaim, but are all big budget, action-oriented movies made in English and are aimed at generating big box office numbers.

Kill Bill & Animation & Violence
Kill Bill Director "Quentin Tarantino" is reknowned for the cinematc blockbusters. and after Kill Bill, he made an ever bigger impact on his movies. yet in Kill Bill, the culture of chinese is very much alive
The Curse of The Golden Flower

Chinese and hollywood iconic actor "Chow yun Fat" has made a promising comeback in a more familiar role that what we love him for. Its been long time coming from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, that we've seen him in all his glory. "Curse of the Golden Flower portrays him as an Emperor.
"Curse of the Golden Flower was nominated for Best Foreign Film at this year’s Oscars, and it’s easy to see why: it overwhelms the senses. The first half builds up the family tensions superbly, as Phoenix, Wan and the servant sneak around the cavernous rooms of the palace attempting to avoid arousing the suspicions of others. Stuck in a life of enforced customs and rituals, every false move can deemed as heresy to the Emperor and elevates mere melodrama to high drama to draw us in. Visually the interiors of the Emperor's palace are so full of garish reds, greens and golds they almost veer on the vulgar rather than the wealthy, and the exteriors of the Forbidden City make for engulfing backdrops. When the action kicks in for the second half, Yimou only touches on the one-on-one fights of his previous films to turn towards ambushes from flying ninjas and a clash between two huge armies that rivals 300’s position as staging the year’s most impressive battle."
This Asian film among many others had defined the asian cinema, by the visual representation and authetic originality of thir culture. Therefore chosen as part of "World Cinema"

The Ring

Hollywood VS World Cinema
A world cinematic movie, "Ringu" 1998 was released in 2000,japanese Directed movie, the story is of is a young journalist with a divorced husband, and a son. Upon learning that her niece's three friends died at the same time, too, and hearing about a disturbing videotape that is said to kill you seven days after watching it, Reiko comes into the possession of that same tape. Now, as time grows short, Reiko and Ryuji race to save their lives from impending doom and discover what the tape has to do with a tragedy-stricken volcanic island and a very strange little girl named Sadako
this chilling story was later remade into a hollywood version called "The Ring" released in 2002, starring Naomi Watts which is similar - A mysterious video tape is killing off anyone who watches it. Whenever the victim watches it, the phone rings, telling them they have only one week to live. A young reporter named Rachel is investigating these events, but after she and her small son watch the tape, it becomes a race against time to find out why the tape is killing everyone and how it could be stopped.
Why am i writing about this? well these japanese and chinese movies are used to make Hollywood blockbusters, mainly with the heavy influence of martial arts. The ring then made a sequel, the Ring 2.
japanese movies are of an asian origin and considered world cinema. The Ring was a cult hit, which suggests that many movies that we see such as The Matrix 1999 are influcned heavily.
